This paper assesses the impact a practicum model has had in career development for alumni of a BA in Modern Languages and Cultural Management. The research questions address both the experience provided to students by the practicum itself and the effect that the inclusion of such experiences in their résumés had when seeking employment. Additionally, it examines the experiences of current students in their final semester since the practicum model has been restructured. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with both alumni and students. Conclusions point towards a positive impact in professional development, mainly because the practicum program has provided former students with previous work experiences that can be included in résumés, while or even if the practicum experiences themselves might not have been as instructing or fruitful. Taking this into consideration, the author suggests adjustments to the practicum program so that it meets all of its objectives and fulfills students’ expectations.
