This study, as part of a Master’s thesis requirement, was conducted and designed to gain an understanding of how much arts administration students at The University of Akron learn during their internship experience. This was compared to what they had learned in the classroom. Research questions pertained to the factors influencing attainment of arts administration content knowledge and professional competencies, and to the satisfaction level after completion of the internship. After looking at different ways of collecting data for this study, a survey was selected as the primary instrument. This thesis was not only intended to provide the university with recommendations for the internship curriculum structure, but to contribute research to the field of arts administration.
