The session includes a presentation introducing the development of open source materials for an undergraduate introductory arts administration course. The aim of these open source material grants meets the ever-present challenges associated with printed materials: lack of agility in printed textbooks and rising cost of college textbooks (an 812% increase since 1978). The agility in open source material also helps to address concerns of regularly changing environments in arts administration roles, specifically issues related to advocacy, censorship, economics, technology, and emerging management trends. The presentation will provide a process for creating open source materials, a survey of current textbook resources, pedagogical advantages of open source materials, and technology used to create dynamic presentations of materials.
