Since 2012 the University of Fort Hare offers the Bachelor of Music (BMus) in East London. In an attempt to improve the employability of the University of Fort Hare BMus students a specialization in arts administration was developed and implemented in 2015 In this paper, the author reflects on his teaching and assessment practices in the music and arts administration programme at the University of Fort Hare. This paper aims to highlight how the author has encouraged arts leadership by creating a transformative music and arts administration curriculum. The literature was reviewed and semi-structured interviews were conducted. The author used the action research method. The findings suggest how the arts administration programme at the University of Fort Hare can be improved in creating a learning space to encouraged arts leadership by creating a transformative and an inclusive music and arts administration curriculum.
