Jean Hair, National Gallery Singapore, Senior Programmes Manager

Jean Hair is a Senior Programme Manager at the National Gallery Singapore, where she leads the annual Light to Night Festival in Singapore's iconic Civic District precinct with playful artistic interventions and innovative ideas. In the past decade with the National Gallery Singapore, she has played a major role in milestone events such as the official opening festival of the Gallery and the design-and-build of a public artwork serving as a sheltered pedestrian linkway to the Gallery. In 2015, Jean founded Play it Forward Singapore - a public piano initiative in Singapore. The initiative was commended by the Ministry of Culture, Community, Youth, and Sports (MCCY) Our Singapore campaign as one of the "ideas that are changing Singapore" in 2016. Play it Forward Singapore now has more than 20 public pianos placed around various sites in Singapore. Jean is a recipient of the National Arts Council (Singapore) postgraduate scholarship and graduated with a MA in Arts and Cultural Management from the University of Melbourne. Her interests include arts placemaking, decoding audience psychology, creating absurdly entertaining arts experiences, collecting gin, and eating her way around the world.
