Youyou Yu, New York Univeristy, Visiting Research Scholar

Youyou (Ruby) Yu is currently serving as a visiting research scholar in the Performing Arts Administration program at New York University during the 2019-2020 academic year. As a guest speaker, she delivered lectures in the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Administration graduate programs. She is also a PhD candidate and teaching assistant at Peking University, China, majoring in Art Management and Cultural Industry. She has a master’s in Art Management and Cultural Creative Industry from Beijing Dance Academy, where she worked three years as a senior teaching fellow and Chinese dance instructor in the School of Graded Examination. She found her own dance company Nanjing Art Impression PR Co.Ltd in 2011. Working as a choreographer and agent, her practice experience inspired her to pursue academic research on performing arts management. With a focus on new media arts and dance audience development, she has also published several papers in several important Chinese academic journals and her current research in New York will lead to additional publications. She has also successfully presented her findings at several conferences. She is now pursuing further research on the topic related to her dissertation “Virtual Performance: The Changes of the Relationship Between Artists and Audience.”
