Sally Gaskill is a lifelong arts administrator who has managed SNAAP, the national survey of arts graduates, since 2008. Based at Indiana University, SNAAP – the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project – investigates the educational experiences and career paths of arts graduates in North America and is governed by a distinguished national board of directors.

Sally’s career in arts administration and arts education spans four decades. She served as executive director of the arts councils of Rochester, New York and Bloomington, Indiana and managed grantmaking programs for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. She led the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras and Indiana Coalition for the Arts. As a consultant, she developed cultural plans for a number of communities in several states and evaluated over 100 nonprofit arts organizations as a site reviewer for the National Endowment for the Arts.

In addition to her ongoing work with SNAAP, she currently serves as a consultant to the Indiana Arts Commission. She is president of the Board of Directors of Voces Novae, vice president of Cardinal Stage, treasurer of Bloomington Early Music, and president-elect for Bloomington Rotary Club. She is a member of the national advisory board for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Bolz Center for Arts Administration, and a community advisory board member of WTIU public broadcasting.

She is a frequent public speaker on issues ranging from career development for artists to arts advocacy and lobbying. She serves as the Indiana State Captain for Arts Action for Americans for the Arts and has taught cultural policy for Indiana University and the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester. She has been a singing member of Voces Novae, a chamber choir, since 2005.

Sally earned a B.A. in history from Colorado College and an M.A. in arts management from American University. She lives in Bloomington, Indiana.
